Set out on an unforgettable 14-day guided self-drive safari through Zambia’s western wildlife areas, accompanied by an expert guide.
Your journey begins in Kasane, Botswana, where you’ll get your first glimpse of the mighty Zambezi River at its confluence with the Chobe River.
Cross into Zambia and head west toward the Sioma region and the Barotse Floodplains, then explore the renowned Liuwa Plains National Park to hopefully observe tremendous herds of wildebeest. Travel deep into the mysterious Kafue National Park, Zambia’s largest and oldest, before visiting Blue Lagoon National Park, Zambia’s hidden gem and home to the largest concentrations of the Kafue Lechwe.
Throughout this eye-opening safari adventure, you’ll overnight in campsites inside the national parks, concluding your journey in Lusaka.

After a hearty breakfast to fuel your spirit, we’ll set off to marvel at the breathtaking Sioma Falls, a true testament to nature’s power. With excitement in the air, we’ll then make our way north to Mongu, where you can shop for local treasures and refuel for the adventure ahead.
Once stocked up, we’ll cross the expansive 50-kilometer-wide floodplain of the Zambezi – an enchanting landscape that transforms into a shimmering sea during the late summer months.
Arriving in the vibrant town of Kalabo we’ll take a ferry across the Luwangina River, stepping into the wild beauty of Liuwa Plains National Park. As we delve deeper into this pristine wilderness, the sight of our first herds of wildebeest will fill you with awe and wonder.
For the next four days, we’ll immerse ourselves in the great outdoors at a rustic bush camp, where the simplicity of nature meets comfort. With cold water showers and flush toilets, you can enjoy the best of both worlds while surrounded by the untamed beauty of Liuwa Plains.

After a leisurely breakfast with breathtaking views of Lake Itezi-Tezi, we’ll pack our bags and set off to uncover one of Zambia’s hidden treasures: Blue Lagoon – a highlight on this guided self-drive safari in Zambia.
This enchanting area, nestled within the Kafue Flats, boasts vast floodplains that teem with life. Here, you’ll encounter Kafue lechwe, graceful zebras, elusive sitatunga, and even some buffalo, all amidst a dazzling array of waterbirds.
As we explore the fringes of the park, acacia woodlands create a birdwatcher’s paradise, overflowing with stunning variety and abundance.
Blue Lagoon remains one of Africa’s last untouched sanctuaries, having only recently been opened to adventurers and still largely undeveloped.

After breakfast we’ll pack up the vehicles one last time, we will explore the area and visit the viewing platform overlooking the marshy plains brimming with birdlife.
On our departure from the park, we bit farewell to the wild and wondrous landscapes of Zambia that have captured our hearts.
Our journey takes us back toward civilization, arriving in Lusaka around midafternoon at our last camp of the trip. This gives you ample time to freshen up before our last meal (own expense) together in Zambia.
