Tour Itinerary

Private lodge tour

On this short 5-day safari, you will experience two highlights of Southern Africa: The mighty Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and the impressive Chobe National Park in Botswana. You will visit a very special corner of the world, where large elephant herds roam the wilderness and where water thunders down rugged cliffs at a gigantic waterfall. We offer this short safari on a “comfort” and “standard” basis – both following the same itinerary, but taking you to different accommodations. You can combine this short trip with a self-drive or guided safari in Botswana or Namibia.

Upon arrival at the Victoria Falls airport, you will receive a friendly greeting from your transfer driver. A short drive later, you reach your accommodation, where you’ll have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure. You could even visit Victoria Falls (optional). With an impressive width of over 1,7 km, Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world. Its waters crash down approximately 110 m, creating an amazing natural spectacle. At times, when the water level of the river is particularly high, the mist created by the falls can reach up to 30 m in height and is visible from many kilometres away. It is little surprise that Victoria Falls is referred to as “Mosi oa Tunya”, which means “the smoke that thunders”. Overnight at The Palm River Hotel (Comfort) or Shongwe Lookout Guest Lodge (Standard).

Day 2 | Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls

If you did not visit Victoria Falls the previous day, you’ll have time to do so today. Victoria Falls has much to offer, especially for the adventurous. It is often referred to as “Africa’s Adventure Capital”, where you can bungee jump, go white-water rafting or take a helicopter flight or a microlight over the falls. Or perhaps you would like to take a relaxing walk through the luscious rainforest located next to the Falls? Other highlights include a boat cruise on the Zambezi River to watch the setting sun, exploring the small town of Victoria Falls or visiting the wood carver’s market (all activities optional). Overnight again at The Palm River Hotel (Comfort) or Shongwe Lookout Guest Lodge (Standard).

Distance approx. 90 km; driving time approx. 2 hours

After a relaxed breakfast, your journey starts by crossing the border from Zimbabwe and into Botswana, where you’ll be driven to Kasane, to overnight on the banks of the Chobe River. A tasty lunch will await you, followed by your first game drive in one of the most species-rich parks in Southern Africa. The Chobe National Park is especially well known for its large elephant population, which comes and goes from the Chobe River, the lifeblood of the park. You can even encounter lions, cheetahs, leopards, multiple antelope species, zebras, giraffes, and more. Either way, you can look forward to many wonderful moments in one of Botswana’s pristine wildernesses. Overnight at the Chobe Bakwena Lodge (Comfort) or Chobe River Lodge (Standard).

You have another exciting, safari-filled day ahead of you. You can explore the oldest national park in Botswana in an open-view safari vehicle driven by an experienced guide. You will enjoy more incredible wildlife sightings during an exciting game drive. Alternatively, you can take a boat cruise on the Chobe River and enjoy watching the various animals that gather at the river’s edge to quench their thirst in the cool waters. The park is also home to many extraordinary birds, such as the African skimmer, the African fish eagle, the lilac-breasted roller, the grey-headed kingfisher, and the cobalt and malachite kingfishers. In fact, over 450 different bird species reside here. Having watched the sunset over the river, you return to land, where you will spend another night at the Chobe Bakwena Lodge (Comfort) or Chobe River Lodge (Standard).
